Is Social Media ‘Social’

Running social media – especially for small business owners – can be an extremely challenging and time-consuming task.

There is a lot to consider – the language, images, frequency of posting and obviously the actual business and its growth. Unfortunately, many times the most important part – socialising, responding and caring for our community gets lost.

Here is an easy checklist to keep you on the right track of staying social:

– Make at least 5 comments per day (genuine ones, read the posts and reply to the message that the person shared).

Ask your followers what they would like to see more of? (quizzes, polls or questions are great ways to get to know your audience better)

Share accounts that inspire you and explain why.

Message people – If you like someone’s work or would like to know more about them, message them. Everyone loves a compliment and building real relationships will help your business grow.

What are your best strategies? How do you approach your social media presence and do you talk to people on the platforms?
